00:00:33: Those stories and more coming up in just a minute.
00:00:46: First up, Avonix Tippecanoe Laboratories in Indiana has introduced a new apprenticeship program to prepare the next generation of manufacturing professionals by combining hands-on experience with academic learning.
00:00:57: This fifteen-month program offers participants, including recent high school graduates and career changers, full-time compensation while splitting their time between on-site training and classroom instruction at Ivy Tech Community College.
00:01:10: Participants spend one-third of their program at Ivy Tech studying subjects like math, chemistry, and manufacturing theory, while the remaining time is dedicated to practical, on-the-job training at Tippecanoe Labs.
00:01:21: Graduates earn a technical certificate in process operations, equipping them with the skills needed for long-term success in manufacturing.
00:01:28: Brett Guiltmeyer, a senior manufacturing transformation manager at Tippecanoe, helped create the program.
00:01:34: This program is a little different in the sense that we're going out and we're kind of looking for raw potential.
00:01:39: We do most of our training here on the floor, you know, in more traditional job shadowing, but the upskilling from the class is what this is bringing to the table.
00:01:49: And we're going to start other classes, you know, behind them.
00:01:52: So I feel like we're giving people a chance that otherwise wouldn't be able to kind of get hired on.
00:01:56: And that's good for them.
00:01:57: And it's good for us.

00:03:02: And they saw her name on the one in Mobile in Birmingham.

00:03:22: It means a lot to be able to say, I helped with that.
00:03:25: I did that.
00:03:26: Through Ivonic, I was empowered to do that.
00:03:30: Lastly, February marks Black History Month, and this year's theme, A Century of Black History Commemorations, celebrates one hundred years of honoring Black excellence.
